Madison | Studio Boudoir

Madison returned to the studio for her second session after shooting a motorcycle-themed session with us last fall. Images from that outdoor session are some of our favorites, and we even have one of the shots displayed in our studio dressing room, but that’s for another post. This time around, Madison wanted to raise the sultry factor for these images for her boyfriend, Trae.

Although we shot in a few outfits on our studio bed during our previous session, we went with red satin sheets this time around. We also used a darker backdrop to create a moodier and less magical look. Last time, we shot with the bed’s headboard removed and a flood of candles behind the bed as the background.

The three shots below are some of the ones we took on the bed this time around.

Here is what Madison shared with me  in a message following session, and I asked her for permission to share this:

An extra special thank you for the experience, it was so special. As crazy as it might sound, it felt like some much needed couples therapy!💙 We have been hitting bumps in the road, and this experience is exactly what we needed to feel whole and connected again! Trae said “ Seeing you that way was eye opening for how beautiful you actually are” and it absolutely melted my heart! I can be so shy, and I felt so comfortable and beautiful! We cannot thank you enough, and already cannot wait to try a couples shoot!!”

When we first began shooting our first boudoir sessions here in our Greentown home studio, we used the front room in our house which features a fantastic bay window facing the front yard. Eventually, we moved our studio into a larger space in our house, and the front room became our session reveal room for clients to review and purchase their images. Because we were pushing to create images that were different from our first session, we took a few shots on the couch in our reveal room using the natural light that we used to shoot with exclusively at first. We think we got some great shots in this series! Madison’s boyfriend suggested this shot, and I always love it when the significant other is along for the session and suggests the types of images they would like.

This may, or may not, be the last series of images we shoot in front of the red wall that we have in our current main studio. We love that wall! But I’m leaning toward painting that part of the studio a much brighter color to give our clients a wider range of looks. We really like this shot, though.

We finished our session by using the claw-foot cast-iron tub that sits in the corner of our studio in front of the red wall that I’m thinking of repainting. In the past, we have filled the tub with whatever that white fluffy stuff is that you put into pillows, etc. That was a starting point, but we wanted the real thing. And now, we’ve got it! We figured out a way to make the tub leak proof, and I use two green Menards buckets to carry hot water in from our front bathtub. Here is just one of the shots that we took in our bathtub series.

We loved shooting with Madison, this time and the last, and we hope to do a couple’s session with her and Trea sometime next year during one of our trips back from Colorado.
